John Wingard
for Biltmore Lake
Board of Directors

Over four decades as a physician and service on multiple boards of directors taught me that good leadership begins with listening. I’m running for the Board to bring that same approach to Biltmore Lake: hearing every resident, supporting the volunteers who make our community thrive, and making decisions openly and responsibly, grounded in data, research, and expert advice.

My wife, Fran, and I have called Biltmore Lake home for five years. We are proud parents of four grown children and grandparents of eight, and we value living in a multi-generational community.

I spent more than four decades as a physician before retiring in 2023. At the University of Florida, I directed the Stem Cell Transplant Program, managing a $35 million budget, and served as Deputy Director of the UF Cancer Center. I also served 20 years on the board of NMDP, the national nonprofit that runs the stem cell donor registry, including two years as Chair, and was elected president of my national professional society.

Like you, I love this community, and I’ve found real joy in giving back by being of service to our community. I volunteer on work crews with the Ecovolunteers and the Lake, Landscape, and Facilities Committees, have helped spread mulch at the clubhouse playground, and helped create an Earth Day presentation for kids on our lake’s beavers.

As co-chair of the Security & Safety Committee, I co-led our community survey, which drew a 75% response rate, and helped develop the HOA’s first comprehensive security plan, grounded in peer-reviewed research and expert input and balanced with what residents told us. Read the Security & Safety Committee’s recommendation here.

I appreciate that every Board and committee meeting at Biltmore Lake begins with homeowner input. Good leadership starts with listening, and I’m running for the Board to make sure every resident’s voice is heard.

Ready to serve.
Ready to lead.
Let’s make a difference together.
